"Everybody's Favorite" Butter Rolls

September 7, 2014

I am going to share my personal butter roll recipe that EVERYONE loves.  I'm not just pretending here, this bread is loved by everyone who has ever eaten it. If you like the yeast rolls or butter rolls from places like Texas Steakhouse or Golden Corral, then you will really love these.  I use my bread machine to make the dough but you could mix it, knead it, wait, punch it down and let it rise before you form it to be cooked if you like.

I let my machine do all the work on th...

Build Your Own Garden Beds

September 7, 2014
So your dirt is no good huh?  Mine either, let's fix it!

I have noticed there are kits available for purchase now that you can order online or purchase in the local hardware stores with pre-cut wood that you put together (build yourself) at home.  That's great!!  Except there is one problem.  Have you seen the price on them?  Wow!!   Upwards of hundreds of dollars for SMALL beds you still have to build.  The best I have seen locally is one the other day for only $29.99 at a local stor...

Battle Park, Rocky Mount

September 7, 2014

We took a walk through Battle Park in Rocky Mount, NC together today with my new camera I received for Christmas.  I have to learn how to use it.  It has a lot of buttons and features so it may take a little while.  It has rained here for the last few days so I had the feeling we were in for a mushy day by the river.  It was cool but not too cold.  It was mostly cloudy but the sun danced through the clouds throughout the day casting a spotlight for us here and there.  The water was high...

Painted Terracota Pots

September 7, 2014
This has got to be the hardest time of year for people who love to garden, especially those who plant vegetable gardens. There are a few little things that can be done this time of year around my area in eastern North Carolina, but aside from raking, weeding and giving the ground and initial tilling, it is a waiting game. So while we wait here is an idea that will prime you for the spring planting and garden decorating season and even provide some unique gifts for your friends. When I go out t...

The Devourer's Game

September 7, 2014

The sins we struggle with today are really no different than the sins Israel struggled with so often in Scripture.  The biggest of them all is idolatry.  Do we seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness first or second or last?  The crazy thing is that these idols are traps designed to destroy us.  We think they bring us pleasure, but they are destroying us.  When we choose to be online for hours but can't find time to read scripture for 10 minutes, we've allowed an idol to set up i...

Candy Corn Baby Hat

September 7, 2014

Here is my latest knit!  I have made a candy corn baby toboggan for Jakob for this fall.  I am currently working on a winter toboggan with ear flaps.  I decided to do it in blue and white and I am using a bulky fuzzy type of yarn for the winter hat.  If you are interested in doing this candy corn hat, it is super simple.  All I did was e-wrap on the red round knitting loom with brown, orange and white.  I have made them with yellow instead of brown before and they look good too, but thi...

Saving Man's Best Friend

September 7, 2014
One summer, when I was 5 years old living in Hepzibah, Ga., we had a stray dog take up on our front step.  In a hurry to get to work, my mother would fall over the dog on her way out the door every morning.  One particular morning it made her angry and she blurted out, "I'm going to call the pound on you!!" Well, I was old enough to know that the dog catcher would put this poor dog to sleep and I felt so sorry for him.  I was an "Orphan Annie" fan back then.  I knew what would happen!!  I ...

Where Is Your God?

September 7, 2014

WHERE IS YOUR GOD?

"And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? If the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word." ~ 1 Kings 18:21

We still have prophets today, the problem is that even professing Christians have joined the ranks of persecuting them.  They've been called bible beaters and modern day pharisees, and these do sometimes exist, but not nearly on the level at which accusatio...

God (still) With Us

September 7, 2014

Christmas is not only a reminder that God came to us to be close to us and to reconcile us to Himself, but remember as we cross the threshold of a new year, God is STILL with us, day after day after day.

“And the LORD shall guide thee continually.” - Isa_58:11

In the Old Testament the Lord told Moses that He would not go through the wilderness before his people, an angel should go before them to lead them in the way; but Moses said, “If thy presence go not with me, carry us not...
