It is about that time to pull out your sandals and flip flops.  Even men wear them so everyone listen up!  Time to soak and scrub those flaky winter toes to baby butt smoothness.  I tend to spend much of my time standing on my feet, working in the garden, running errands, cleaning and working and the very last thing on my list to care for are my feet.  And eventually they look like it.  After a long day in the garden last week I put together a thrifty mix to soak my feet in and I could have sworn I was in heaven for just a while. :)  So here's how you do it!

     Things You Will Need:
  • A plastic dish pan
  • Hot water
  • 1/8 cup of olive oil
  • Pumice stone
  • 1/2 cup of Epsom salt
  • 3 tablespoons of honey
  • Favorite essential oil (optional)
  • Milk (optional)
  • Dry towel
Place the dish pan in the sink.  Add the Epsom salt, essential oil, honey, olive oil and milk to the dish pan.  Fill with hot water (as hot as you can stand to enjoy it) and stir while filling to dissolve everything.  Only fill up to about 2-3 inches from the top.  Place the filled pan in a comfortable place where you will be able to sit and soak your feet for awhile.  Soak your feet until the water becomes only slightly warm.  Wet the pumice stone slightly and scrub the bottom of one wet foot at a time in a circular motion to remove any softened dead skin.  Rinse your feet back in the foot soak.  Dry your feet off with a towel and put generously apply lotion on your feet. If you put socks on it will help hold the moisture in a little longer.  You will notice a dramatic difference even after one soak.  If you soak your feet once a week your feet will continue to improve and will stay in this renewed condition.  Use anytime your feet begin to dry out or hardened spots begin to appear again.

The basic ingredients for the soak are the oil, salt and hot water.  You can adjust the recipe to suit you, the honey and the milk add another level of luxury for your skin and the essential oil is also good for the skin and the scent is pleasing.

Relax and Enjoy! :)
