Outreach Christian Ministry

by Julie Branstetter, Th.B. Welcome to my ministry blog. I graduated seminary at Nashville Theological Seminary in 2008, where I received my Bachelor of Theology. My outreach ministry beyond my local church is Kingdom Covenant Ministries. KCM was chartered in 2008 through the National Association of Christian Ministers. My husband and I are currently participating in the Church of God Callings and Ministries Studies Program. My husband and I have ministered worship, preached and taught the gospel in churches and other places. My family worships with a beautiful congregation at Farmington Heights Church in Wilson, NC. We help with worship and small groups there. KCM is a Christ focused, teaching and evangelizing ministry. We receive donations regularly to help national and international missions. Various brothers and sisters in ministry in other countries have already received support including Kenya, India, Pakistan, Canada, Israel and also various places within the United States.

Love Each Other

September 4, 2014

"And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise." ~ Luke 6:31

This is not just a recommendation on how to treat strangers. It's a command of our Lord on how to treat every one we come in contact with including our spouses, our children, teachers, bosses, neighbors, restaurant servers, everyone. Notice it does not say, to treat them the way you want to be treated IF they are nice or IF they are fair with you or IF they show you respect.... Receiving respect, being treated kindly and fairly is often the result of having FIRST shown our love to others. We may not always be repaid with such positive results but neither was Christ, yet He did it anyway. Even our love for God only came after He first loved us. (1 John 4:19) Anyone can love those who love them back. (Luke 6:32) Brothers and sisters, we aren't just "anyone". "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's SPECIAL possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." (1 Peter 2:9) Let's be like our heavenly daddy and sweeten the world around us by showing love first, in the uncomfortable moments to those we personally find unlovely. Is this hard to do?  Yes.  Is this right to do? Yes.  Will God help us?  Yes.  Everything in the Lord is Yes and Amen.  When we take up our cross and love like this we will be walking in His footsteps. Be blessed today!

The Devourer's Game

September 4, 2014

The sins we struggle with today are really no different than the sins Israel struggled with so often in Scripture.  The biggest of them all is idolatry.  Do we seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness first or second or last?  The crazy thing is that these idols are traps designed to destroy us.  We think they bring us pleasure, but they are destroying us.  When we choose to be online for hours but can't find time to read scripture for 10 minutes, we've allowed an idol to set up i...

Weeping and Rejoicing

September 4, 2014

Romans 12:15 ~ "Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep."

There is only One who can see the whole picture; the One who is the beginning and end of everything, He is the Lord.  Humans rarely see a full picture but we make decisions as if we do.  When we look at other people's lives we tend to try to measure ourselves with them side by side and many times one of two things happen.  Either haughtiness or envy sets in.  To what degree, it varies, but because we can...

Baby Talk

September 3, 2014

Psalms 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God..."

Do you know the sound of His sweet small voice?  See God speaks in different ways but one of the ways He speaks to His children is similar to the way we talk to babies.  In fact science has found that people have the tendency to speak in a “sing-songy” voice with babies because we understand instinctively that babies respond more positively and happily to the higher pitched soft sounds of "baby talk".  No matter how old we become ...

Masquerade

September 3, 2014

If salt loses it's flavor it is good for nothing..." We are the salt of this world. This is what Scripture teaches us. Jesus describes the world as a wicked place but God has placed us in this world to keep it from deterioration. We are to preserve it until the day it is "inspected" It's like the holiday ham hanging in the barn. Without the salt it rots, but with the salt it is kept until it's time comes. But if we lose our flavor then for what are here? We can do no good apart from ...

Who Are You?

September 3, 2014

John the Baptist was a man who knew both who he was and who he wasn't. He knew he was the "one crying out in the dessert, 'prepare ye the way of the Lord'" and he also said, "I am not the Christ." He didn't see himself as a nothing and he soberly knew he wasn't everything. His value was in connection with his identity IN Christ. Here is something we can all learn from John the Baptist.

You cannot be everything to everyone in every situation but you can be something...

God's About To Do Something

September 3, 2014

"Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father."  ~ John 14:12

Jesus told the disciples (which applies to all disciples) that His TIME on earth was up but that they would carry on the works He had done and they would do a greater number of those works because they would remain working in the earth.  I have heard a number of times this taught to mean we wou...

Let Go, Let God

September 3, 2014

Sometimes the real struggle for Christians is within themselves.  A spirit comes to torment and say, "Aren't you supposed to be doing better than THIS by NOW?  Maybe God ISN'T with you?" The Bible tells us about 2 voices that will whisper in our ears, one is a voice that we know and it comes by way of the door.  The other sneaks in some other way and pretends to sound the same but is really our enemy.  One is the voice of God, gentle and encouraging even in correction.  The other is fr...

Strivings Over the Law

September 3, 2014
Ever meet a person whose response to being discipled always ends up with "strivings" "about the law"? It is difficult to help a person who has no DESIRE for obedience (Phil 2:13) to Christ's law to understand the difference between The Mosaic Law and the Law of Christ. (Gal 6:2 & 1 Cor 9:21) Many of the times that Paul refers to "the law" in scripture he is referring specifically to the Law of Moses, not to just any arbitrary act of obedience. It is important to read and teach scripture...

Do It Anyway

September 3, 2014

The Lord tells us in Scripture that wide is the way to destruction and narrow is the way to the kingdom of heaven. Most go through the wide gate but a lesser # (few) will find their way through the narrow way. Jesus said, "I Am the Way". Don't be discouraged if more people reject your sharing of faith than receive. It's simple math. Jesus Himself was crucified by people. Who could have shared Him better than Himself? And yet, He was rejected. There is a sober side to ministry and it i...

Relevant

September 3, 2014
I am convinced that it is not the Word of God who need to become relevant in this world, but this world is in great need of becoming relevant to God. God was before all things existed. What has been created is under the requirement of becoming relevant to what has created it. When Jesus says, "Depart from Me, I know you not, ye who practice lawlessness.." It isn't because He wasn't relevant to us. He has done His part in full. It's because we did not draw near to Him, live a life of sa...

Back Breaking Love

September 3, 2014
You know what (among many many other things) I love about the Lord? That He allows me to reject Him if I choose to do so. This freewill that He has given me is an act of His love towards me and it comes with great risk. He is truly good. He has given me the freedom to decide and has done all He can to express His love for me. He laid His life down for me. He took my blame when there was dissension between us (sin). Like a good husband, He woos His bride. He demands faithfulness but by H...

Once Saved Always Saved

September 3, 2014

Something to know and understand when looking to learn whether "once saved always saved" is legitimate Christian theology is to remember a few distinctions from the Bible about salvation.  1.  That terminology is never stated in scripture so you won't find, "once saved always saved" in scripture.  You know this but just for the sake of beginning at the beginning, let it be said.  2.  So to determine if it is legitimate theology you have to ask , "What does it teach/imply?"  What does i...

God Is Faithful

September 3, 2014
I have two little girls, ages 10 and 6, and one little boy on the way. We are a family of 5 and by the end of May we will fully realize it.  But instead of talking about the future, I want to share something with you today that started in my heart years ago that I hope will encourage you today because what was spoken to me as an intimate moment between the Lord and myself years ago became a reality to me just now.  There are promises that God will make to us in our private time together...

At The Crossroads

September 3, 2014

Everyone stands at crossroads at multiple times in their lives.  The cross road represents that moment when we must make a decision, not just any decision, but one that will actually alter our lives and the lives around us significantly.  The time that you came to receive Jesus Christ, if you have, was one of those times, but everyday we are presented with the choice to follow Christ or turn back.  Everyday we are presented with a moment in which we may die and yet live with Christ or...

Sitting In The Ashes

September 3, 2014

Have you ever found yourself like Job, "sitting in the ashes"? If you haven't you will. Everyone has a seat in the ashes one day and most of us have already been there a time or two. Let me encourage you with some information. Ashes are an indication that something has burned down and is over, but there is something also very unique about them and if we will choose to set our mind on what they stand for we can get through with victory. Ashes act as a fertilizer and a cleanser. Where as...

Someone Else's Mess

September 3, 2014
Oh my goodness.... how many times is the magic number that I remind my children that a mess doesn't have to be their doing for them to clean it up especially when they have been told to clean it up? Establishing routines and habits can be difficult but sometimes it seems like they may never take. :) The scenario is always the same. I tell one of them to pick something up or clean something specific and their response is, "Well so and so did it, that's not mine..." Really though, I am g...

For The Love of God

September 3, 2014

Jesus said, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments."  (John 14:15)

He also said, as recorded in Matthew 22:37-39, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and GREATEST commandment.  And the second is LIKE it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself."

Notice they are two distinctly separate commandments, YET both are required!    One is greater than the other but the other is 'like' it because it is tied to...

"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!"  ~ Psalms 46:10  (NKJV)

“Step out of the traffic! Take a long, loving look at me, your High God, above politics, above everything.”  ~ Psalms 46:10 (The Message Bible)

When I think of this verse I tend to think of God being exalted BY nations and BY the whole earth.  While we worked on our family devotion tonight before we put the children to bed, this verse appeared to me in ...

When God Repented

September 3, 2014
There were several verses that jumped out at me over the first 12 pages of the new reading schedule but one that brought me to tears was when God looked on people and regretted having created them because of their wickedness and sin. That just filled me with sadness. To imagine God, our creator, who loves without end looking upon sinful man and wishing he had never made us. Can you imagine just how bad it had to have really been for God to feel that way. And it paints a picture of God ...

Stop Trying to Grow Your Church

September 3, 2014

Stop trying to grow YOUR church and start trying to grow THE church.  As a result, YOUR church will grow.  See, we have been made for the lost, they were not made for us.  Let me break this down for everyone who reads the title of this blog thinking that their church numbers must grow before the body can.  We have this mentality that IF we can get people to come to church THEN we can get them saved but this is not the plan that Christ gave us for furthering the growth of the body of C...

Humility

September 3, 2014

Humility is such a lost virtue in the world today. It is even lost within a portion of the church as a whole. It's almost as if people think it is a weakness to be a humble person. Have we forgotten that "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble?" (James 4:6) That doesn't sound like a weakness to me; it sounds like blessing and favor with both God and people. Isn't it more pleasant to be around people who know the difference between confidence and arrogance? Isn't it more pl...

Live By Faith

September 3, 2014
I live by faith and not by sight. If the word says it, I believe it. I do not let the things I see in this natural passing world tell me what to believe, I believe the impossible looking, miracle requiring things God has said is true. Why? Because I know Him to be everything He has said He is and God is not a liar. If He said I can do all things and yet I do not, it is not His doing that I have not done all things. I cannot truthfully blame Him, it was me! I am not separate from my Sa...

Choose Wisely

September 3, 2014
What frightens me most about Christianity today is the growing belief amongst us that we can be IN Christ and 'of the world' at the same time. "Be not conformed...but be ye transformed" Romans 12:2 "Old things have passed away, ALL things are new..." 2 Cor 5:17 "Put off the old man...put on the new" Ephesians 4:24 & John 17:6 "They are not of this world even as I am not of it..."

And let us not forget 2 Peter 2:20-22
"If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord...

Count This Joy

September 3, 2014
(Please read this, it may be for you.)
I struggled and finally said to the Lord, "Lord, why again? Did I fail this test before? I thought I passed this. Why do I have to suffer this again? Are you angry with me?" And out of a long quietness He begins to answer and He said to me, "The first time, I tested you with rejection and disappointment and you passed. But you did not fully understand what that would mean. This time it is not your test, it's simply an assignment. Because I know I ...

Narrow Is The Way

September 3, 2014
One of the kick backs for walking on the narrow path is that you will consistently experience biting from both sides of the road, the overly religious and the uncommitted. The overly religious teach things that do not matter and the uncommitted teach that nothing matters. Wide is the gate that leads to destruction and many go that way, narrow is the way to life but few find it. Stay on the narrow path.

2 Most Important Things

September 3, 2014

There are many great tools for good ministry.  If you visit a Christian bookstore you'll find book after book written by pastors and evangelist equipping saints with tools for successful ministry, many of which are very good and worth the time to study.  But there are two resources, sometimes underestimated, which are of the utmost importance.  The first and most important is the anointing of the Holy Spirit and the second is your testimony.   If an endeavor before you is without God’s ...

Not Because

September 3, 2014
It is not that I believe God is good because He is my Savior. I believe God is my Savior because He is good. It is not that I believe God is good because of my healing, I believe God is my healer because He is good. When I know that He "does" because He "is" rather than believe that He "is" because He "does", I can say He is good whether I am healed or not. He is good whether I suffer or rejoice. God's goodness is the BEGINNING of everything that He has become to me. Now I can say, "Re...

CoWorkers With God

September 2, 2014

"I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.  So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.  The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor.  For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building." - Paul of Tarsus, 1 Cor 3:6-9

Paul is telling the Corinthians to be careful not to follow or exalt those ...
